Energy Performance Certification in Scotland

EPC Assessors

All those wishing to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) in Scotland are required to be members of one of the protocol organisations listed on http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Building/Building-standards/profinfo/epcintro/epcguidadvice

Energy Action Scotland (EAS) and our training partner, Alembic Research Ltd, have delivered training and assessment specific to those wishing to become members of a registered EPC protocol scheme in Scotland since August 2008. Since 1993, we have been at the forefront of the delivery of a range of practical domestic energy assessment courses in Scotland.

All enquirers interested in attending an EAS training course to become an EPC Assessor in Scotland or requiring information about becoming an EPC Assessor MUST contact the protocol scheme manager in the first instance.

Contact information can be found here: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Building/Building-standards/profinfo/epcintro/epcguidadvice

Courses

We offer a 2 day course for experienced practitioners already operating within the industry. This course will be aimed at those who have successfully completed energy audit training with EAS in the past, or those with the Domestic Energy Assessor qualification who have been inactive for a period of time. http://careersadvice.direct.gov.uk/helpwithyourcareer/jobprofiles/JobProfile?jobprofileid=1456&jobprofilename=Domestic%20Energy%20Assessor&code=-595465496 .

A full 4 day course for those with little or no experience of assessing the energy performance of domestic properties is also available.

Courses are generally held in central Glasgow on the dates shown via the Events Diary link below.  Alternatively if there is a need to train 6 or more people in an organisation or locality, please contact us to discuss specific arrangements.

Existing Assessors (DEA or other suitable experience) £550 plus VAT

Full 4 Day Course £1000 plus VAT

The 2 and 4 day courses will both require the completion and assessment of a portfolio of 3 EPCs: two of these to be completed during the progress of the course and one to be completed under examination conditions. The cost of assessment for entry to a protocol scheme is an additional £250 + VAT.

We also provide a fast track route to membership of a scheme with our Assessment Only course; this is designed for active DEA assessors or those wishing to demonstrate competence for membership of another scheme in Scotland. This will require the completion and assessment of a portfolio of 3 EPCs: two of these to be completed in discussion with the Training Manager and one to be completed on-site under examination conditions. The full cost of assessment for this route is £350 + VAT. NB No tutorial or written guidance is provided for this category as assessors are assumed to be active under an existing protocol scheme.
